Groups are balanced so sizes never differ by more than one. Add pairs who work better apart and the generator separates them. Mark absent students to leave them out for the day.

Class Seating Chart runs entirely in your browser. Class lists, seating charts and settings are stored in local storage on this device only, and the noise meter never records audio. There are no student accounts and nothing to upload.

Can I choose the group size instead of the number of groups?
Yes. Switch between "number of groups" and "students per group". Leftover students are spread across groups so sizes stay even.
Can I copy the groups?
Yes. Copy puts the groups on your clipboard as plain text, ready for a slide, email or learning platform.
Is Class Seating Chart free for teachers?
Yes. Every tool works free in your browser with no account, no sign-up and no student logins.
Where are my class lists stored?
Only in this browser, on this device. Student names are never uploaded to a server, which keeps you clear of most student data privacy concerns.
Can I import my roster from a spreadsheet?
Yes. Paste names one per line, or import a CSV exported from Excel, Google Sheets or your school information system. A name column, or first and last name columns, are detected automatically.
