Classroom Noise Meter

A visible noise meter turns "please be quieter" into a game the class can win. Allow microphone access, set the limit for the activity and put the meter on the board.

Your microphone is analysed only inside this browser. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.

The bar and emoji stay green while the room is calm, turn amber as it gets close and red over the limit. Audio is analysed live in your browser and is never recorded, stored or uploaded.

Private by design

Class Seating Chart runs entirely in your browser. Class lists, seating charts and settings are stored in local storage on this device only, and the noise meter never records audio. There are no student accounts and nothing to upload.

Frequently asked questions

Is the classroom noise meter recording us?

No. The microphone signal is measured as a loudness number in your browser and immediately discarded. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.

Is it measuring real decibels?

It shows a relative loudness score from 0 to 100. Laptop microphones are not calibrated, so set the limit by testing with your own class.

Is Class Seating Chart free for teachers?

Yes. Every tool works free in your browser with no account, no sign-up and no student logins.

Where are my class lists stored?

Only in this browser, on this device. Student names are never uploaded to a server, which keeps you clear of most student data privacy concerns.

Can I import my roster from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Paste names one per line, or import a CSV exported from Excel, Google Sheets or your school information system. A name column, or first and last name columns, are detected automatically.
